I'm so confused. The bottom left isn't even what her outfit looks like in FFX.

I'm confused too. Mostly because all three outfits aren't really that attractive, but the top one is the least offensive to my eyes, personally.

And... the bottom right one is actually one of the in-game outfits. Sure, not the official cutscene one, but still.

Looks like her regular outfit but with that black/red wetsuit thing she wears early on half taken off.

Bottom left is official hi res art. It's the diving suit she wears when you first meet her tied around her waist (essentially) and the top she wears under the dive suit. (You can't see the shorts.) What FFX wants us to believe is that Rikku was running around in 2 pairs of boots. The dry dive suit over the clothes I'll accept. The two pairs of boots, not so much. Video game logic.

I gotta disagree.

A good chunk of the reason why in disagree come an from my genitals, I won't lie, but its also that I think her beach outfit just looks so much more aesthetically better than neo samurai.

I pretty much agree. I thought her outfit in FFX was so cute. But her look in FFX-2 I'm guessing is coming from that place of "the world is happier and more liberated now," the same justification for Yuna's shorty-shorts. Still, could have been worse.

The Alchemist dress sphere is pretty cool and all but the class doesn't really lend itself to a good starter party dynamic the way thief does. Plus, she is a thief in FFX. That's her class.

My main annoyance with the dress sphere system is that while the referentialism with Samurai dress sphere to Auron was neat. (White mage and black mage to the older classes looks.) Most of the designs didn't fit in with Rikku's "Al Bhed" look at all or even fit Yuna or Paine's personalities. (And let's not get into the travesty they made of Rikku's personality in that game.)

Ironically, just finished a story where I redesigned the whole dress sphere system to a weapon sphere system that allows for the cultural differences and some nods. Am still debating posting it. I haven't posted in close to a decade and it's really self indulgent writing.
