The Alchemist dress sphere is pretty cool and all but the class doesn't really lend itself to a good starter party dynamic the way thief does. Plus, she is a thief in FFX. That's her class.

My main annoyance with the dress sphere system is that while the referentialism with Samurai dress sphere to Auron was neat. (White mage and black mage to the older classes looks.) Most of the designs didn't fit in with Rikku's "Al Bhed" look at all or even fit Yuna or Paine's personalities. (And let's not get into the travesty they made of Rikku's personality in that game.)

Ironically, just finished a story where I redesigned the whole dress sphere system to a weapon sphere system that allows for the cultural differences and some nods. Am still debating posting it. I haven't posted in close to a decade and it's really self indulgent writing.
