Not so much a diet but a lifestyle change.

Eat smaller portions and eat slowly. You can always go back and add a little more if you're still hungry.
Pay attention to how much sugar is in your prepackaged food and drink.
One treat a week.
Find an exercise that helps you.

Most bland food is not great for you if that's the bulk of what you're eating (plain potatoes, bread, oatmeal, etc.) You should eat some veggies and fruit, and spices and other flavorings add taste to food without lots of calories (just go easy on the salt).

Or did you mean "bland" as in "not super spicy?"

That's not really what I'm asking. I wanna know your personal experiences with them.
