I don't think it is body shaming her to say they could have made a different casting choice that might have worked better. She's great. Her body is amazing. She still doesn't look like an Amazon. That isn't a comment on her, it is a comment on the standards of beauty in Hollywood and the fact that they very rarely cast someone who isn't a skinny woman in a main role. And it is a comment on those involved in the casting process. It says nothing at all about her.

Like who? Everything I've said she was amazing in the part and really became Wonder Woman in a way they didn't expect. Who exactly do you think would have done a better job?

SA

^^ That should "read", not "said"

NAYRT, but this comment thread is pretty clearly about look alone, not her acting ability or how well she performed in the role. It's not attacking her performance to say that she isn't built like an Amazon.

The anon I was replying to said "they could have made a different casting choice that might have worked better". They didn't say "looked better." "Worked better" would include the acting component, not just the looks.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-01 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
That's a reach and I think you know it.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-01 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
No, I don't. I took the anon's comment that I was responding to as saying someone else could both have played the part better than Gal and looked more fitting for the role. I disagree.

(Anonymous) 2017-07-01 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
da- well you were told now, so you know it.

I was that anon. Personally, I loved the movie and I think she ended up doing a great job. What I meant was, that at the time, given that all they had was her audition, they could have made a different choice and gone with someone who looked the part. Hindsight is great and all. But that doesn't change the fact that casting a skinny model as an amazon shows the priorities of Hollywood and of the people at WB.

You're very clearly ignoring the contextual clues from the rest of the statement, and general conversation, in favor of your strawman.
