I feel you on that. I'm not a huge collector myself, though I do own a bunch of figurines. Mostly because I thought they were cute, and most of 'em were inexpensive. Probably the most expensive one I own is a Medicom RAH one, and even that is only because it was during a time in my life when I had extra cash - and I knew that sort of thing would never happen again.

But I really don't get the attraction of Funkos, though. Some of the fancier figurines are beautiful, or works of art to some extent... but Funkos just look so mass-produced and cheap to me, and they're not particularly cute, and they're not like Nendoroids where you can change the pose and expression and whatnot.

Like collecting figurines is one thing, but I honestly do not get the attraction of collecting Funkos in particular, of all of them.

I'm just curious, what Medicom figurine do you have?

I've got Edward Elric, but from the 2003 anime, not the current one. He's like... wow, 10 years old now.
Nowadays the RAH line is fancier (that was before the replaceable faces and such), and cost even more. I'm kind of glad I got mine when I did!

I did drool over the Levi Medicom from AoT, but no way I was going to drop 200$ for that. Too much.

Funkos are cheap and carry a lot of underrepresented characters. I didn't care for the aesthetic, but it was basically the only affordable option for a Peggy Carter thing a few years ago. Now I'm weirdly attached to the things.

The underrepresented characters are the only thing that keeps making me consider buying them. Some of the only figurines of characters I like are Funkos so temptation is there but... I just think they're too ugly.
