Her voice is super distracting though. It is going on my feedback form to CBS that they need a better actor to replace her. You can only get away with a funny accent for the comic relief character.

I watched the trailer after reading this secret. The whole thing is super cheesy and everyone's acting is weak - Yeoh's accent doesn't help matters but it's not like she's any worse than anyone else.

Wasn't China supposed to be badly hit during WW3 in the Trek verse, there really ought not to be many culturally Chinese people left. It is the Chinese American population, like Hoshi from Enterprise, who survived.

Plenty of white sci fi leads who speak with a non-american accent. She's fluent in english and not at all hard to understand. People are terrible.

That is the point, we could have one of those guys. A Canadian accented, or an English accented actor, have proven Trek pedigrees.

I agree. I get that a lot of people are nervous about this show. But frankly a lot of the criticism is really racist. Complaining about black female cast and accents? How can that be anything but racist?

My only problem with the upcoming Trek series is that it's not just on network TV where I can watch it all, because MICHELLE YEOH IN SPAAACE!!!

I just watched the trailer again because it's been a while. . . Yeah, no. I have no trouble at all understanding what she (or anyone else, for that matter) is saying.

I'm pretty damn excited about this & am looking forward to new Star Trek!!
