1. Coffee. The local grocery store makes a java chocolate chunk that is particularly amazing.
2. Mint Chocolate chip.
3. chocolate, especially the local intense chocolate that has chocolate chips and swirls in chocolate ice cream.
4. Dulce de leche.

One of the few things I love about San Antonio is that the grocery store brand ice cream is actually better than the more expensive brands. There are some really good flavors.

Is it HEB? I lived in Texas awhile and I miss HEB.

Green Tea!! Haagen Daaz brought Green Tea flavored ice cream over here, the last time I had it was in Japan. I can't get enough of it.

Have you had the green tea ice cream mochi from Trader Joes (and certain other retailers)? So good. Although I like the vanilla ice cream mochi so much, but TJ's and most other places don't sell it, even though it's from the same manufacturer, Mikawaya. I could only find it at certain restaurants. :(

Actually, I just went to Mikawaya's website adn they make red bean, plum wine, cookies 'n cream (!!), coffee, black sesame (?) and mint chip. None of those are in stores! Just green tea, mango, strawberry, and chocolate. And there's a separate matcha GT one?! :O

Red bean. I first had it in a Chinese restaurant a few years ago and now I make trips to the Asian markets to get it. It sounds odd to Western ears but it's delicious, subtle and not cloyingly sweet.

Me too! This one place does a Chinese version of Baked Alaska with red bean ice cream, banana, and vanilla cake. It's crazy good.

Haagen-Daz peanut butter and chocolate, and Haagen-Daz coffee. For some reason I've almost completely lost my taste for ice cream over the last few years. I used to love almost ever type of ice cream. Now, the two I mentioned are literally the only two I'll bother spending money on, because every time I try any other types, they just sit in the freezer uneaten. It's weird.

Okay tier: Strawberry

Sassy Cow's Orange Chocolate Bliss. It's orange ice cream (not sherbert) with chocolate bits.

Today I had some Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream and I really like that flavor too.

Chocolate ice cream, the darker the better. I'll often add my own peanut butter to it. The peanut butter in PB & choc ice cream is usually too sweet for my taste; unsweetened peanut butter added to chocolate ice cream tastes nicer to me.

I think my fave brand is Breyer's.

I used to stop at a produce stand in SC that had tubs of peach and of strawberry ice cream and the ingredients list was literally just cream, sugar, and fruit pieces. They were the best thing ever. I went back a few years ago and they were just like cheap supermarket ice cream with stabilizers and natural flavor chemical concoctions instead of fruit. I was heartbroken.

Currently I'm a big fan of Ben and Jerry's Non-Dairy Chocolate Fudge Brownie. I'm kinda lactose intolerant and it doesn't upset my stomach. It's not quite as creamy and rich feeling as dairy ice cream, but the flavor's good and the tradeoff's worth it.
