Re: Did you like the fandom of ten years ago more than fandom of today?

I feel like I entered fandom at the end of its "Golden Era" or whatever Era you'd like to call it. (2006/2007?)

I enjoyed the fact I made some friends on a forum (a specific archive site, the place where I consumed ALL the fic) and it was all easy going. It might have been the fandom, the pairing archive, but it was pretty small community, and I would say I was part of the "last generation" before the forum died and the archive ceased existing. But it was fun, and I got know people a bit. So I do miss that.

Other than that time...my fandom interaction has been really limited to reading/writing fic. I don't really go onto Tumblr unless I want some pretty fanart.

What I do like about today's fandom is that (as another anon mentioned) there's so much fic! Quality is always and has always been questionable, but still! There's also more fic (and I am an author of some) with WoC as protagonists (OCs, Self inserts, headcanons of Hermione, actual media that have more diverse casting, idk and idc, I enjoy myself). So perhaps that also is part of the change? Maybe it was always out there and I didn't know where to find it?

Any conversation I have regarding fandom is held here. I like them both equally. I look back fondly on my younger years and interaction with fandom. With my current state of being, I'm fine with today's fandom, pursuant to the way I interact with it.
