Then. While I'm sure that there were occasionally people who told other people to kill themselves, it wasn't as socially acceptable as it was then.

There might be fewer homophobes, but they're still out there. It's just that, instead of demanding warning for icky gays slash, they're getting butthurt about other people's queer headcanons.
