(no subject)

Since it's come to my attention that certain communities have been purposely posting troll secrets for the lulz, I'm going to start getting harsher on what counts as a non-troll secret, especially regarding the fandom involved.

ETA2: No, this isn't only SPN fandom. This goes for everyone else, too.

Just a heads up.

And apologies in advance if any real secret posters get caught up in this.

I'm still wondering how are the mods of this community going to differentiate between a "troll" secret and an actual secret? As the above poster said, a lot of these alleged troll!secrets have some very close to actual thoughts I, and others, have had regarding the show. What criteria makes a secret a real secret as opposed to a troll?

Very good question, there.

It's a solution, no doubt. Not one that I agree with. I think it's entirely unfair that SPN posters in general will be singled out for scrutiny and have to "prove" (so to speak) the veracity of their secrets.

But, it does answer my question.

Agreed. Only a tiny part of the fandom is a part of capslock_spn, and it's really sad that now we have to prove that our secrets are genuine. :(

1. Can a person submit a secret anonymously?

2. Can a person PM anonymously?

Because if the answers are:

1. Y
2. N

then your solution is not helpful.

but how will you be able to ascertain whether or not the people who "comment to the name the fandom thread or post to the suggestions post anonymously" are still trolls? If someone is dedicated enough to take the time and MAKE trolling secrets, surely it wouldn't be too much more effort for them to do as you've suggested with supposed actual secrets.

I'd like to know the answer to this, too.

I'm part of the SPN fandom, and have been submitting secrets to this community (without joining it before), and they were real secrets. I'm also part of [livejournal.com profile] capslock_spn, so will all secrets from the SPN fandom be banned?

That's sort of weird, because how do you propose moderation measures for the secrets, when a.) it's given anonymous, and b.) you don't know what the person who gave the secret was really thinking.

Also, lots of fandoms troll secrets, some aren't so organized, and for all you know a lot of other communities troll secrets too. You aren't telling us that you plan to watch those hundreds of communities to make sure secrets are real?

Unless you're psychic. With powers of reading minds even on the internet.

Supernatural Fandom needs their own speshul secret community.

Or therapy.

Amen to that.
