Yeah I get really confused when people conflate legality with morality because those aren't the same things. Copyright law isn't even as straightforward as many people think and it gets especially complicated when it concerns art because art through the ages has always been influenced by other people's artwork and stories.

It also has the problem of protecting big companies over small time content creators, essentially anyone with money can buy any content they want to use but people without money are in extreme danger of having their ideas taken and not having the resources to take from others.
