I agree with this. I hate Snape. I hate him a lot. And I will argue with anyone who justifies his bullying of children. But he is not a villain. He is not Voldemort or Lucius or Bellatrix. He is grey. He is complicated. I may not personally like him, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize that he does some good things and that Harry wouldn't have succeeded without him.
