I'm heartbroken. I've been listening to Linkin Park all day.

That's really unfortunate. I hope his friends and family get the support they need to deal with his suicide.

Also not looking forward to the tasteless lyrical jokes that'll be made.

I was never a huge LP fan but it is damn tragic. I know plenty people who really love Linkin Park, so they are really down right now.

I thought it was fake until Mike tweeted that it was true and immediately started crying. I'm still in shock. I love Linkin Park and me and my friends were gonna go see them in October. Their albums helped me out during a lot of rough times and I don't know how I'll be able to hear Chester's voice again without crying.

Totally stunned by this news. Very sad to hear that.

I saw that the first morning and it still doesn't feel real to me. At the same time also not surprised, considering what we know of his personal life.

God I grew up listening to Linkin Park. ;_; Time to play Iridescent on repeat for me.

I just heard about it on dA after seeing a journal with some fuckshit in the comments going on about how they "can't feel sorry for them" because "suicide is the cowards way out" and now I'm sad AND pissed off.

Can these people like... keep this shit to themselves. I can't stand all these people who claim they've gone through similar things but can't feel empathy for people who couldn't handle it like they did. Is it that damn hard to just not comment?

Ugh, agreed. Those kinds of comments annoy the shit out of me, too.

I don't get the "selfish" accusations. I've never been in the kind of headspace that somebody like Bennington, or any other person who's committed suicide, has been in, so I don't feel it's my place to judge them. My only reaction when I hear about somebody committing suicide is deep sadness, both for them and those they left behind.

I could understand family and friends going through a period of anger, perhaps, because grief is weird and anger would be a natural reaction to losing somebody they love. But complete strangers getting all judgy about this stuff...I don't get it.

Well, it is the coward's way out.

I can assure you that "cowardly" is the last thing the majority of people who commit suicide are feeling.

And the thing is, when I heard about it, it was on Phillip DeFranco, so I did get some of the reasons - Bennington had been abused as a kid and had depression problems. As sad as it is, I can understand with that history.

Frankly, I wonder why people who make that sort of comment don't immediately think "Did he have depression?".

Unfortunately, too many folks consider things like empathy to be what I call "transfer-only." You can't feel something for the deceased, because he left a wife and six kids behind and they need the empathy more than he does, therefore you shouldn't give any, no matter his reasons! As though feeling something for the deceased means that you're perfectly okay with people killing themselves.

Damn. I had mixed feelings on the music, but that is really awful.

Found out this at noon via twitter, I'm still in shock. They got me through some hard times during highschool and I was listening to them recently.

Found out this evening, very shocking and I'm mostly just feeling very sorry for him as his family.

It came as a bit of a surprise because a few days ago I'd been looking up his and Mike Shinoda's ages and got looking at Beinnington's kids. Now that I think about it, those kids are going to be in a not-good place - he has six kids.

But also, I wonder what this means for Linkin Park - I am a fan of theirs. I know bands can pick up new singers, but would they find someone who could ever stand up to Bennington's standard?

Both my Silmaril muse Elenaria and my insane muse Oraania are also sad, they both have favourite LP songs.

Broke my heart when I heard about it. Linkin Park defined my high school years and I always enjoyed many of their songs after that. I remember thinking a few months ago how awesome it was they'd lasted so long and done so well. Now this.
