Re: Which popular scenes fall flat for you?

It hit me quite strongly, tbh.

Something about the 'fuck it, I'm walking through the bullets' mentality.

Each to their own. :-)

Oh absolutely. If you love that scene and it works for you, more power to you!

Yup, I agree. I think Wonder Woman did a generally good job of combining war grittiness and superhero lightness/comic feel.

Yeah, me too. But I think the genre needs to be kept in mind: it's a comic book movie, and Wonder Woman has superhuman strength and capabilities. Her charging through bullets and destroying the shit out of everything is a power fantasy, and it's a power fantasy for women which is amazing. More than that, it wasn't just an excuse to fling her tits around and look sexy. She was shot to look powerful.

I get how the scene would be cartoonish and jarring to someone trying to take the movie as a straight war drama, but it's comic book violence.

I watch plenty of comic book movies. I did not find the scene well done at all. She did decidedly not look even remotely powerful to me.
Your mileage may vary, of course, and you might think it was great. But that doesn't mean it's just a fact that the scene was oh so flawless, empowering and genius. It's a matter of opinion.

Yeah but when your opinion is so ~decidedly~ minority, it says a lot. Not like it's the first time you've expressed a similarly dodgy opinion on here anyway.

Ah so in your opinion, 50 Shades of Grey must be a brilliant, flawless book series because how could all those people who love it be wrong!

Do tell me about those allegedly "dodgy" opinions I've had. Do keep in mind that "dodgy" doesn't mean "does not agree with your opinion" though. Give me some example, will you, after you already bothered to bring it up.
