Re: Inspired by #1: Is there a pairing that still makes you mad that it never became canon?

Elliot and Olivia needed to hookup at some point. I normally don't like ships where one half is married to someone else but they had insane chemistry.

Plus that season where Elliot was separated and they had the nerve to bring in some not Olivia detective for him to hookup with, they were just trolling the audience by that point.

SA Forgot to say, they are from Law and Order SVU.

I didn't usually see all that much chemistry between Elliot and Olivia, which is weird because I'm usually all over stuff like that. But that other detective - they really had no chemistry and the scene didn't even make sense. Normally I don't believe show writers are ever "trolling the audience" but they had to know it would piss people off.

It's funny because I'm usually not all over that stuff but Elliot and Olivia somehow work for me.

But the other detective, I felt like they really wanted to write Olivia/Elliot but they just weren't prepared to fully go there so they brought in some other random detective? I wasn't even really mad about it I was just like, "Ok, the writers have to know what they are doing here."

I don't follow behind the scenes stuff but it's possible that someone on staff was against the idea of Olivia/Elliot because occasionally that happens and maybe that is why the other detective showed up.

Well I'm not usually into it when one person is married, which may be why I didn't pick up on it.

But yeah, that whole thing was weird to me. I'm not sure what the point of the other detective was.

YES. Especially since the show had made it clear since season 3 that Elliot and Kathy were having serious problems. It didn't have to be too soapy, either; the show could have focused on how it would shake up Olivia and Elliot's working relationship.

Yeah I wouldn't want the show to turn into the Olivia and Elliot drama hour but they still could have hooked up at one point. It was obvious that they had feelings for each other and it was weird to me that the one chance they had to have sex without Elliot cheating on his wife was also when they brought in another detective and had Elliot separated from Olivia.

I don't even need them to be endgame (though they could do that if they begged Meloni to do some small guest spots) but I just wanted it to happen like... once.

I rarely watched that show, but it seemed like Elliot/Olivia was one of those ships like Mulder/Scully where shipping wasn't just a geeky fandom thing, but a mainstream thing, where the actors would get asked about their characters getting together by morning news show anchors and whatnot.

Yeah it wasn't just a geeky fandom thing because it was pretty heavily implied in a few episodes that Elliot and Olivia were into one another and L&O is a pretty mainstream show. Even if I didn't like the ship itself I would be able to see it.

I totally agree. I usually don't like ships where someone is married, but I couldn't help but ship them. I even belonged to the Elliot/Olivia shipper fanfic site so I could read lots of fic.

Yeah I normally stay away from ships where someone is married because I don't like cheating stories but at a certain point Elliot's marriage was fucked anyway (they really should have divorced) and for some reason I just really like him and Olivia together.
