Inspired by #1: Is there a pairing that still makes you mad that it never became canon?

Feel free to rant and rave about how wrong the pairing(s) that those characters ended up in canonically were for them, too.

Jack and Liz from 30 Rock

Don and Peggy from Mad Men

Jeff and Annie from Community

I was just thinking earlier today that I'm a bit sad Jeff and Annie never became full canon. I was never super invested in them, because I got the pretty strong impression that on Community, nobody was endgame. And if I'm going to bother to ship something, you bet it's gonna be an endgame ship for me. But all the same, I liked their dynamic a lot and would definitely have liked to see more Jeff/Annie in the show.

I'm still hoping TK/Kari will become canon (c'mon Tri!) and I'll be forever pissed that Tai/Sora didn't become canon.

That fucking epilogue. Goddamn, I'll never be over it.

But then, I was the weirdo who really wanted Tai and Mimi to get together in the end, so I'm odd company to begin with, haha. +1 for TK/Kari, though. So upsetting.

Damn, same here. Even after all this years I still ship it.

Picard/Beverly Crusher. All those teases and it was never made really official in canon (well there was All Good Things, but they'd gone and divorced in that one)

cooper/audrey from twin peaks pissed me off so badly that I couldn't finish the series, omg.

Hook/Aurora from OUAT. I was so convinced in early S2 that they would get together.

Elliot and Olivia needed to hookup at some point. I normally don't like ships where one half is married to someone else but they had insane chemistry.

Plus that season where Elliot was separated and they had the nerve to bring in some not Olivia detective for him to hookup with, they were just trolling the audience by that point.

SA Forgot to say, they are from Law and Order SVU.

YES. Especially since the show had made it clear since season 3 that Elliot and Kathy were having serious problems. It didn't have to be too soapy, either; the show could have focused on how it would shake up Olivia and Elliot's working relationship.

I rarely watched that show, but it seemed like Elliot/Olivia was one of those ships like Mulder/Scully where shipping wasn't just a geeky fandom thing, but a mainstream thing, where the actors would get asked about their characters getting together by morning news show anchors and whatnot.

I totally agree. I usually don't like ships where someone is married, but I couldn't help but ship them. I even belonged to the Elliot/Olivia shipper fanfic site so I could read lots of fic.

Not mad but I was disappointed that Sky High didn't end up with Layla/Warren instead. Or at least Layla moving on from pining over Will because I never felt that Will was into her in that way, even when Layla was trying to make him jealous it came off as more concerned friend than scorned potential love interest.

Sort of but not really: John Connor and Cameron from T:SCC

I'm actually entirely thrilled with the way their relationship developed over the course of seasons 1&2, and given some comments the creator made in the audio-commentaries, I feel confident in surmising that the show was moving towards current!them being together (though in what capacity it's hard to say). So it's not that I want to change the show so that they become more of a canon couple. But man I wish the show hadn't been cancelled. I fucking loved John/Cameron and I would have loved the chance to see them develop further, both as individuals and together.

Paris Geller / Rory Gilmore

every male character that Rory ever went out with was astonishingly terrible, whereas Paris is amazing, and also they have great chemistry and complement each other really well and would be a perfect couple and it should happen thank you and good night.

Barney/Robin should have been end-game canon.

I was never under the impression that it had a hope in hell of being canon, but I will forever feel that Smallville would have been way better if there had been a canonical sexual/romantic attraction between Clark and Lex. I don't even necessarily think they should've gotten together in any way, I just think adding a level of messed up pining to their dynamic would have made it more complex and fascinating.

I'll always be salty that Jackie/Fez were end game in That 70s Show, mostly because they had to destroy Jackie's character (and whatever development it had) to do it. And partly because the reasons she and Hyde broke were just stupid.

obviously the hiatuses and cancellations didn't help, but word of god was that they were going to bodge it up anyway :(
