I mean the type of self-cest where you have two different characters played by the same actor. So, they're not actually self-cest for the character. You can easily make them siblings since they look identical. Then it would be incest if you ship them.

Ok that made me laugh. But selfcest would be more like pairing clones or two alternate versions of the same chatacter.

This is kind of tangential, but there's a (quite good, but incredibly fucked up) X-Files fic in which Mulder ends up in a creepily close relationship with an OFC who turns out to actually be the female him from another dimension. It's the least cracky self-cest I've ever encountered.

It's Tikkun Olam by MustangSally and RivkaT. If you've spent any time whatsoever in TXF fandom, you'll probably know them as the people who wrote Iolokus. Tikkun Olam was far less obsessed over by the fandom than Iolokus was, but it's got that same trademark dark strangeness, with an extra helping of strange.
