On a recent episode of Shadowhunters the Institute Leader half of the canon gay couple lied to his partner about Institute Business. People are mad at IL half for not telling his partner everything that is going on in his life.

And I think that is so fucking stupid. These are people that have obviously never had a friend or family member that worked in a job that required confidentiality.

I don't go here, but I'm gonna agree with this.

Ime, fandom trends towards this idea that couples in a relationship should absolutely never have secrets from one another without accounting for context, and it's just not realistic. It is really annoying though.

So many people in fandom don't get that, or things like military hierarchy, or information security, it drives me up the walls.

Yeah... I've been avoiding the wider fandom for a while now, nuance is not something that this fandom gets tbh. Or storytelling in general since I've seen them complain about the bad guys doing y'know, bad things. (Shocker right??).

But w/e I can't be assed getting involved, I just follow people who reblog pretty shit and stay out of it.

Personally I think they've both got valid points but I'm not like even remotely mad enough on either end to actually fight anyone over it, I just wanna see Magnus and Alec sort it out and I'll be happy.
