I like Nick Dunne as a character

I wouldn't say I liked him as a person, but I also didn't particularly dislike him as a person. He was just a guy, basically. Flawed, kind of selfish, but mostly decent. And as a character I thought he was solidly written and believable.

Gillian Flynn is a good writer. I'm a bit thrown by her habit of writing vindictive, conniving, psychotic female characters, but I genuinely believe it's her way of getting more complex, challenging, interesting female characters out there.
