Re: Dealing with a gnat/fruit fly infestation with a pet

In my experience the best fruit fly trap is: in a bowl put three parts of some cheap juice (apple works well), two parts cheap vinegar, a tinh splash of dish soap. The soap destroys the liquid's surface tension so the flies, which would otherwise simply be able to stand on the surface, sink right through and drown. It's very effective.
It's not pretty, but you can change it regularly.
