Leg cramps

What's the best thing to do for muscle spasms/cramps. My back and calves are spasming right now and keep cramping up.

Make sure you are getting enough potassium. And do stretches.

Its because I spent a total of 15+ hours in the last 3 days sitting in a really uncomfortable chair. So I don't think potassium is the problem.

Take a walk around the block and I second stretching your legs, and don't sit that long in chairs....even comfortable ones. Definitely don't go longer than two hours sitting in one before getting up. Even a five minute walk in between sittings will help.

I was taking the Bar, so I didn't really have a choice. We weren't allowed to just randomly get up. Normally I wouldn't sit that long and in the same position.

Then they should have allowed for brief breaks in the middle of that exam.

You could have done the 'stuck in your airplane seat' exercises, toe raises, heel lifts, ankle rotations, etc. But now the best you can do is a hot bath with Epsom's salts, a large glass of water, and some stretching.

Also magnesium and water.

Only thing that does it for me is massaging it. When I get a charlie horse in the middle of the night, I'll push my foot against the wall while massaging the muscle and it seems to go away fairly quickly.

add magnesium supplements to your diet (or magnesium oil, foot soaks, etc--whatever form works best for you)
do lots of stretches!!!
hydrate (this is always my advice to be fair...but am I wrong? everyone needs to hydrate!)
