A fairly sizeable portion of a fandom trying to bully an artist with death threats etc. makes it not a fluffy little cuddlefest in my eyes. I'm not the one saying it's all bad, but this part?

I agree.

And thinking an artist getting death threats over fanart is a bad thing is not a knee-jerk reaction, it's common fucking sense.

People are talking about how this proves the entire fandom is garbage. That is a knee-jerk over-reaction that's more about your own assumptions and expectations than it is about reality.
