Good for you, OP, for reaching out for help.

I couldn't warm to her character for much the same reason. She's emotionally callous, and she reminds me too much of myself. Good on you for getting help, OP. I hope your life gets better!

Yeah, I could definitely relate to her on a few points. I appreciate that a character like her is on tv now. It's such a break from how women are usually depicted. Just don't be too hard on yourself, the fact that the first thing you thought of after realizing you were like her was to go to therapy shows you're way more mature than she is.

Kudos to you for getting help, OP. Not an easy thing to do. Wishing you all the best.

I love how they depict depression in Laura Moon. Usually when depressed female characters are depicted, there's a lot of blue-toned, pretty, delicate crying, soulful and pensive stares, waiting around like a sad little wisp to be cared for. Depression makes you not care about shit and can make you very difficult for people to sympathize with.

I hope you feel better soon, OP.

Really nicely put. Depression is ridiculously unpretty and difficult; and as you said most media depictions paint it in such a poetic/soulful/near-glamourised way that's nowhere near how it actually feels.

+1. It's not the same way that my depression manifested, but I really appreciate the way they showed Laura's depression made her callous and hollow and unsympathetic. Not what we usually get at all, especially for a young white woman.

Yes, her characterization in the show is fantastic.

I'm beginning to feel like this is the reason I didn't like her. Oh man.
