fell off a bike, hit my back on armour door, and unintentionally stabbed myself with a pencil and someone else accidentally followed suit half a decade later

I got a scar on my chin because I picked up this piece of wood in my yard and it had a piece of glass on it. I raised it over my head for some dumb reason.

I got a scar on my finger from an iguana scratching me.

I have a scar on my foot from running barefoot in the yard and stepping on a bone.

My father was a drinker, and a fiend.

And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit.

So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me and says, "Why so serious?" Comes at me with the knife. "WHY SO SERIOUS?" He sticks the blade in my mouth... "Let's put a smile on that face." And...

- fell from a kitchen stool as a toddler, broke the glass I was drinking from and cut open my lip and chin

- left a sewing needle jammed into a pillow on the other side of my bed, somehow thrashed in my sleep far enough to rip my elbow against it

My dad was getting a pot of boiling water off the stove when toddler-me managed to squirm out of the highchair seat and attempted to swan-dive onto the floor. Dad dropped the pot and dove to catch me, and did! But some of the water from the dropped pot splashed up and onto my arm and so my forearm has a large burn scar on it.

The other interesting one was SCIENCE. My mother was on about tea tree oil as a cure-all. It was a magical mystery elixir that would fix anything. So when I was pestering the cat and got two identical scratches on my right arm I realized I could test this tea tree oil's magical healing properties. I applied the oil to one, but not the other. The untreated one healed normally and vanished. The oil treated one formed a surprisingly impressive scar for such a small cat scratch. After that my mother stopped evangelizing the stuff so much.

a tb jab that went wrong

so my grandfather had tb when i was very young, so i'd already had a jab and got scarring from that (my mother got accused of giving us cigarette burns at one point), but the heaf test when i was thirteen was inconclusive as to whether i needed another bcg or not - they decided they weren't chancing it and gave it

cue two weeks with a volcano of pus coming from my arm and a much messier scar alongside my first one :(

I was trying to get a glass teapot off a shelf when I was around four. I got on top of the dryer and couldn't reach it, so I got on my tippy toes and still couldn't reach it. I stretched some more and knocked the teapot over, broke it, lost my balance, and fell. I have a bunch of scars on my knees from the glass.

I have extensive acne scarring all over my chest, back and upper arms. I'll never wear anything low cut or without sleeves again.

A fairly large, round one on my leg: Got off the wrong side of a Harley Davidson when I was younger. Those exhaust pipes are pretty damn hot (2nd degree burn).

One small but deep one on my right thumb: Got my finger caught in the bread slicer. On the other thumb: Dripped burning plastic on my finger.

I have a lot of scars on my arms because I scar super easily and it's all from damn trivial stuff like paper cuts and scratched-open-mosquito bites and accidental scrapes. And cat-play-attacks even though it wasn't even my own cat.

I have a bunch of faint white marks on the back of my hands from where my cats scratched me when I was kid. (Loved those cats though <3).

Yeah, I've had a pretty tame life, lol.

My cat was sleeping in my arm once and something scared her and she freaked out and ran away, she scratched my hand in the process.

I have some other scars but I don't feel like sharing every one and some I don't remember.

I have a scar on my right elbow from the time I fell down our cement front steps. And I have a big scar above my right eye from the day before my high school graduation where I tripped on my dress and fell onto our stairs and rammed my glasses into my face. Had to get 30 stitches.

11 year old me said "helmets are stupid," and went for a bike ride; decades later, I have a dent in my forehead over my right eye and think helmets are awesome. Teen me grabbed our new dog who had gotten along perfectly well with our old dog at the shelter, and sprang for him the minute we got her in the front door. Both dogs are in dog heaven now, but I still have a bite mark on my right middle finger. And I get burn scars from cooking and crafting all the time, but they mostly fade after a year or two.

I was in terrible abdominal pain for a year because it kept getting misdiagnosed. Turns out I had a tumor (non-cancerous, thank fuck) on my ovary the size of a melon so they had to take my whole ovary out. They should have given me a hysterectomy at the time due to evil C'thulu periods but they wouldn't do that till a few years later and they just opened me up in the same place.

Self-harm, unfortunately. It's a nervous habit/depression tick I was never able to shake. I keep it isolated in places where people won't see, like my upper thighs, though, so I don't look emo or whatever.

I just realized that literally the ONLY scar I have that isn't from self-injury is a little one on my forehead from when I had chicken pox as an infant and my mother couldn't keep me from scratching one of the marks.

It's faded now, but for years as a kid I had a scar on my belly where I scratched myself with a fingernail while pulling off a T-shirt. It was the stupidest thing and only a superficial wound, but it hurt like hell.

- Some acne scarring on my temples
- A little chunk in my right hand that's affectionate referred to in my family as my Rice Krispie, where a bug chewed on me all night while I slept
- Three little cuts on my stomach and a decent-sized one in my belly button where I had my gall bladder removed!
- A weird patch on the back of my left ankle from the first time I tried to shave my legs on my own and just. Fucked it up. So bad. lmao

My most prominent is an infected cat scratch that was never treated. It healed over as a bump and hasn't changed in like 15 years.

Mostly self harm. I also have a scar on my hand from a terrible caramel making accident though.

- Fell off my bike and slid through pavement.

- Cooking oil burn?

- Iron burn?? I was pretty young but I can see the scar on my arm.

- Fell down in a parking lot and cut the palm of my hand. And then they poured cologne in it to avoid an infection and then they took me to a doctor to see if I needed stitches, and thankfully I didn't need any.

- Adorable pitbull gave me love and kisses and on the way down scratched my arm.

I was born three months premature. I stayed in the hospital for almost four months. I have several scars from being hooked up to various machines. The worst ones are a two inch long scar on the underside of my right arm halfway between my wrist and elbow and a three inch long scar on the right side of my neck.

I also have a scar on the corner of my right eye (on the side closest to my ear), that I received after running through the house, tripping on the footrest handle on a recliner chair, and falling on a brick fireplace hearth. I was four or five when it happened. I just remember being sedated and strapped in a papoose and them having to get two people to hold me down while they stitched up the wound.

I have a scar that runs under my right-hand pinky nail from getting that finger slammed in a door by the wind when I was 3-4. The thumb on that hand has a line from a band-saw that I was cutting plastic on in 8th grade.

There's a scar on my shoulder from a lump removal, a scar on my chin from a fall where I hit a sink. I don't really see much of scars around my big toes, but the nails are narrow from surgery to cure ingrown toenails.

My two biggest are my surgical scars, one running down from my navel which is part of a moderate crease because it got infected and I had to go back to hospital to treat it and ended up having a medical vacuum put on it to drain and close it (the problem that caused the infection was liquid drainage that was stopping it from healing).
The other is above my navel which is quite wide in the middle because I got another infection, but it was only a surface section that didn't want to skin over until antibiotics worked.
