I think it's more against foreign language than any specific region.

I can tell you why I don't generally watch foreign language shows or movies. I can't deal with subtitles for very long, I just start to read them and not pay attention to the action (also, I read a little slower than many people, which is not helpful for words that are only there for a set amount of time). And I can't stand it when audio and video are at all misaligned, mouth movement not lining up with dialogue, so dubbing is out. If any were filmed in English, I might give them a shot.

Same. I won't watch anything with subtitles.

Yeah I actively hate dubs and while I don't mind subtitles, it does take a lot of concentration if you actually want to pay attention to a story.

I watch anime so I can do it, but I tend to watch most tv while I'm doing other things so the amount of things I want to watch with subtitles in a day is limited.

That's why we don't watch them-- my sister can never read the subtitles from her seat because of how small the words are, it gives her a headache even with her glasses. And we often sew/embroider or do some other thing while watching TV, either just to have something to keep the hands busy or because I have major ADD and doing something with my hands helps me focus my brain-- but I can't watch something subtitled while I'm stitching.

I have really wanted to watch more, because I grew up with wuxia films and I hear great things about some of the current shows... but so much of what I want to watch isn't dubbed.

You get used to subtitles. Here everything is subtitled unless it is locally produced, and most isn't (Sweden), so that is the only option. I much prefer it to synchronizing things like they often do in Germany *shudders*

As for Asian dramas - nope, but that's because they are mostly soap operas, which I don't like. Sci-fi FTW!
