So maybe people had liked the first season when they were younger, but as they got old they got more discerning.

Maybe the things that they don't like are particular to Moffat (his glib, "snappy" dialog, his fairy-tale conceits, his prioritizing being "clever" over telling a story that made sense.

Also, as "cheap" as S1 might look now, it's got much better production values than the classic series. But wobbly sets and green bubble wrap monsters didn't take away from what was often brilliant writing.

I don't need an excuse. I'm a grown ass adult so if I don't want to watch something cause I'm not enjoying it anymore I won't. Lol. And I was a teenager with a limited concept of subjects like sexism, privilege ect when Who first returned. Liking the earlier series had me watching longer than I would normally have as I got more aware of the things I didn't like.

edit: oop this was more directed at the comment above but yeah I agree with your age stuff.
