Heh, I can definitely see where you'd think that, yeah. I think that's a fair assumption a lot of the time. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I'm a rarity when it comes to this situation, because even when I ship one half of a canon pairing with somebody else, I still personally do tend to like the other half of the canon pairing as well (whether or not I ship them with somebody else, which is rare), and also like the canon pairing itself. The only time I ever would dislike the canon significant other is, obviously, if they were a truly horrible person who treated the character I like (or people in general, for that matter) badly.

But I also tend to be a multi-shipping sort, so maybe that explains some of that? I dunno.
