It probably should be noted that they continue exploring the relationship in the follow-up comics, and make it you know, very clearly a relationship. (With coming out to parents and stuff). Also there is another wlw in the cast, but this is discovered in the comics as well.

It seems like they might have wanted to have more of Korrasami, but weren't allowed on TV.

where korra yells at her dad for saying he's happy for her and accepts her but should be careful since apparently homophobia exists in this fictional make believe land and despite character delevopment that made her more reflective of her temper issues and drama with her dad

like why even bother at that point
