I transport you to the favorite fictional world of your childhood

(Anonymous) 2017-08-01 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The fictional world of a series you loved when you were between, let's say, ages four and fourteen.

How fucked are you? Do you still want to be there?

Harry Potter.

In a post Voldemort World, I think I'll be fine.

Hmm, Anne McCaffrey's dragon/fire lizard books come to mind.

As a woman, I guess it'd probably suck, but I assume I'd be that Mary Sue, what's-her-name, Menoly or something. I legit want a fire lizard. I'm pretty sure they are just scaly ferrets.

I would be in Sunnydale. I would be fucked but I also wouldn't want to leave.

Narnia. I'm a lot more critical of some things in the books than I was as a kid, especially the last book. Plus I'm not Christian. But really overall it doesn't sound like such a terrible place to live so I wouldn't want to go there but I wouldn't say I'm fucked.

Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books. Talking horses, not too much misogyny, before she went all weirdly anti-wlw. I'd be pretty happy I think.

Pokemon world? I guess irl, I'd be more likely to be a Pokemon Rights Activist working to ban pokemon battles and the cruel practice of keeping them captive in Pokeballs.

but other than that..

there are several different fictional worlds I loved in that age bracket depending on which end you're closer to. I'd be really fucked if I was in Archie comics (five) probably less so if I was in several of my favorite TV shows when I was 13.

Pokemon world. I can't remember what the name of it is.

Probably either Anne McCaffrey's dragonriders of Pern, or Darkover. Nother one is TOO too bad, but depending on what class you are, and what time period, it makes a difference.
Given a choice between the two, I'd prefer Darkover, especially if I could have laran and go be in a tower.

I'm in Angel Grove, hanging in the Youth Center. I'll be okay because the Power Rangers take care of the monsters. :D

I guess the world of Digimon would be pretty sweet until my friends started getting turned into keychains and my digimon's best friend died protecting us.

The year is 50 BC. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium.....

As an adult, I'd probably have gone crazy from all the village idiots long since.

LJ Smith's anything. I dunno how fucked I'd be in the NW series. Everyone usually had ~powers~ and shit to balance out the general fuckery.

Pretty sure I'd die in most of the others. Except maybe Secret Circle.

It'd be Pokémon, and I guess it depends on how dark your interpretation is. I'd want to be a trainer so if I were halfway decent at it I'd be fine.

Oz probably or Star Wars. I'd say Oz would be between 4 and 9, and Star Wars would be between 9 and 14. Oz is very nearly perfect, so I'd be just fine but probably a bit bored. With Star Wars, it would depend. I could find a nice planet to settle on, one far away from anything important happening. Then I'd be okay.

Either Narnia, the Saddle Club world or Potterverse. I'd probably not do too well in Narnia, me being an autistic, physically disabled lesbian atheist. Even if I could get a drop of Lucy's healing cordial to fix my various health issues, I think Aslan would probably have a few choice words for me about the latter two issues. Narnia just doesn't strike me as a particularly forward-thinking society as far as LGBT+ rights go (and certainly not where women's rights are concerned), and I guess it would be kind of silly to be an unbeliever in a world where talking to gods face-to-face is a semi-regular occurrence. Still, there's a chance that Aslan'd be willing to turn my horse Sharif into an actual unicorn, and it'd be nice to get a swig from the aforementioned cordial, so it might all be worth it regardless.

I would've done really well in the Potterverse as a kid, and would probably be okay even as an adult because I'll bet they've got some nifty pain-killing spells and/or potions that'd make my life easier, even if they couldn't outright cure everything that's wrong with me. Also, flying sounds pretty rad.

I'd have kicked so much ass if I'd been in The Saddle Club as a kid, and even now would kill to be able to board my horse at a barn as nice as Pine Hollow.

Rugrats? I wouldn't imagine things would change too much...

Probably Narnia. I don't know, I think Narnia could be an amazing place to live if you managed to be in a peaceful time period and a nice area. IDK. You could live your whole life there without necessarily having any sort of violence or adventures, depending on the time period. Though one would hope for at least a few small adventures. :)

Too many to choose from, but I'm pretty sure I'd be good as long as I had magic. Which would some how get bestowed upon me while I'm being transported, lol.

FFVii's world. So happy. I need to find Tifa's bar, right now.
