I have trouble seeing an alien who can literally change their sex as someone who relates at all to trans issues.

I feel the same way about characters in anime who could do it, Ranma, the starlights from the Sailor Moon anime, etc... I don't know if I would ever call them trans because it's a magical situation that we just don't have in real life so we don't really have language that reflects it.

"I have trouble seeing an alien who can literally change their sex as someone who relates at all to trans issues."

Why is this a sentence on the Internet?

nayrt, but that would be a person who can change biological sex, whether at will or through some kind of inadvertent process, not a person whose gender and biological sex are mismatched. The gender of the first person might change as they change sex, or they might consistently identify as male/female/genderless, but it isn't comparable to someone with gender dysphoria.

Ranma seemed pretty firmly to consider himself a guy, and really wanted to get the curse lifted too. I doubt he would relate to trans issues. That's not a compliment to him, but I think it's probably true.

Well you could argue that every time he switched to the female body without wanting to, that's the point where he could relate to trans issues.

That is a really good point.
