I don't even watch Dr. Who, and I hate that I think like this, but part of me believes a big chunk of the "A woman Doctor is gonna make Who go down in flames/fucking feminists ruin everything" diatribes are actually motivated by people who are only attracted to men being pissed that they don't find the new actress attractive. Not that people who genuinely believe feminists/"the dreaded SJWs" ruin everything aren't dicks, though.

I also think Capaldi's run didn't do as well partially because people thought he was too old to be hot. I thought he was the best-looking of the bunch, followed by Eccleston.

I don't even watch Doctor Who either but I agree with you based on what I've seen of the fandom.

I should probably try watching it eventually.

Ehh, I just didn't like the whole mentor thing going with 12. I like 3 and 6 who are arguably not the most attractive incarnations, as well as 8 and 10.

I kinda think so too.

FS is the only place I seen people unhappy about it in any real numbers.

I rock out on 4chan, and they aren't as butthurt as FS is.
