Much as I hate the show's writing, I can't say for sure that I wouldn't still be watching Once Upon a Time if Neal Cassidy hadn't died. Or, for that matter, if Captain Hook had. And no, it's not really a ship thing, I think it would've been cool for Emma to stay single, although I'd ship her with Neal and Regina and both as an OT3 (and most every character Emma was vaguely cordial with) before I'd ship her with Hook.

I don't mean this as an attack on you or anything, but I do not at all get why people like Neal so much. He was a bland and trite character to me.

Same anon--I dunno if elaborating will help, but one of my parents buggered off to be with a younger hotter model and died in a nasty way, although my other parent didn't secretly kill them, and my other parent did a really great job raising me until their own demons bit them in the ass and they became an addict, and I got really fucked up, and fucked over, trying to get my parent back.

I'm the same, but with Robin Hood. I had problems with Regina's story in general, but I shipped her and Robin so hard. If they'd kept him alive and killed off Hook instead, I'd probably still be watching.

I think I could have dealt with Hook if he and Emma didn't get together seriously and had he stayed mostly an antagonist.

Killing off Neal so Captain Swan could be possible definitely rubbed me the wrong way though. Like I didn't need Emma to be with either but why did Neal need to die?
