Yurio calls him 'pig' and Victor has called him 'piglet' on some occasions, but barring how Yurio needs his mouth washed with soap (and tends to call Yuri Katsudon more when he's not in a bad mood), I do like how Victor calls him 'piglet' and Yuri's reaction is just a mild 'oh stop that'.

Yuri's weight only matters because it's harder for him to balance and perform on the ice but say he finally retires from figure skating, I don't think he'll care much about whether he has a big belly or not. And nor would Victor.

That said, I do think we need more body positivity especially in Asian countries where a normal weight is already 'fat'. Calling a chubby Yuri 'fatso' and 'pig' isn't helping.

I just can't see a retired Yuri getting big belly-fat. The Japanese fat i.e. some softness there (kind of like Hiroko who isn't fat either), sure. But a big belly and three chins? No.

Yeah on one hand Asians have a different obesity scale from the rest of the world. (Checking online I'm actually on the normal weight/BMI, but I'm already erring on the side of overweight according to my doctor because our scale is a bit on the lower side. Mostly because the risks for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases double for Asians at a lower BMI than Westerners.) So: I'd have a hard time seeing a retired Yuri, who was an athlete, actually blow up. If only for health reasons. But he will be plump because that's how his genes work.

On the other, I do want some kind of anime that shows how fat people are still healthy you know? They're not fat simply because they're lazy or eat too much?

You know there's a vast middle ground between "higher end of normal weight" and "three chins", right? You can gain a very noticeable amount of weight on your belly without obtaining a dozen chins in the process.

Diabetes
Heart disease
High blood pressure
Arthritis
Indigestion
Gallstones
Some cancers (eg, breast and prostate cancers)
Snoring and sleep apnoea
Stress, anxiety, and depression
Infertility

But nothing wrong with being fat, right? Let's spread more body positivity !

If you bothered reading what I said to anon above, nonnie, you'd see me mention that I don't expect a retired Yuri, a former athlete, to actually blow up because of health reasons. BUT he can't help being plump if his genes work that way. It's not always about lack of exercise and a bad diet, in case you didn't know already. Some people just can't lose weight no matter how fucking healthy they are. Listing those diseases one can get as a fat person isn't helping me: I'm normal weight, like I mentioned (bordering on chubby but eh). I run the risk of all those diseases anyway because of genetics. My cholesterol levels are through the roof. BUT I'M NORMAL WEIGHT.

My best friend weighs about twice I do, she eats healthy and exercises daily. She also plays tennis on her free time. I get tired more easily than she does. Whom do you think is healthier?

Don't give me that kinda shit.
