It's dumb, but on vacation and put clothes in the washer, started it so they were good and wet, and discovered no one bought laundry detergent. My father offered to pick it up when he went out with my sister. I even wrote it down on a list for him.

He left, I settled in with a glass of wine. He and my sister come back, no laundry detergent. Now I have to feel like an asshole asking him to drive BACK out for laundry detergent so my damn clothes don't mold. I might be ok to drive? But I am very paranoid about drinking anything and driving and I wouldn't have had the damn wine if I knew he was going to flake out.

Aren't you supposed to put the detergent in before you start up the machine? I've never heard of anyone doing it your way.

Top loader, I've always started the water going and then added the soap to the stream so it disperses better. Adding it in before never seems to get it as clean, though that might just be psychosomatic.

Use dish soap? Or shampoo?
