I loved everything about the Harry Potter series, including the setting and the characters. The expanded universe...not so much. Couldn't make it through Fantastic Beasts because it just didn't have the same feel.

I think if you went into Fantastic Beasts expecting it to be a Harry Potter movie you were setting yourself up for disappointment.

I didn't. I just didn't expect to be so put off by the setting, and the colourisation. The whole aesthetic was all wrong for me and that's pretty much how I figured out exactly what it was about HP I loved so much. For many, it was the existence of magic. It was far more specific for me.

That's totally fair, but that's also what I meant by expecting FB to be an HP movie.

Sorry if I misinterpreted your comment. It just kinda sounded like you expected the whole expanded universe to have the same aesthetic

For me, it was the story of Harry, the humour, and the fun banter between Harry's friends. I love the books, but I have no desire to see Fantastic Beasts because it'd be missing most of what I liked.
