Not a rarely used item where I live, but if you have a car and live in a place where it could possibly get icy on the windshield overnight, you should have a scraper. I had to scrape ice of my rental car with a library card while visiting a cousin near San Francisco.

Haha, me and a friend had to do the exact same when we were leaving work last winter. Took at least 20 minutes between us.

but... it mostly doesn't ever get icy overnight in most places near San Francisco

That's why it would be a rarely-used item! So useful when you need it, though.
