Bean might have come from being as in human being? People tend to make words sound "stupid" to be cute. Like small to "smol" or how everybody has their cat or dog call humans "hooman" because not being able to say or spell words right is supposed to be cute and stupid.

Whether it is effectively cute or not, that's subjective.
