Re: What characters had the worst story arc?

Bones and to a lesser extent, Booth. Her characterization was so inconsistent it was annoying. She's sort of an Aspie? Unless she suddenly needs to be so amazing at relationships that she's got lots of boyfriends and a healthy sex life despite having major issues with basic human interactions.

I haven't seen the show, but that doesn't seem inconsistent just from the way that you've described it? "Being good at relationships" isn't, like, a linear scale that improves in consistent ways across the board with predictable outcomes. Would you mind expanding on that a little more?

They'll probably tell you more/better, but going from 'i have no idea how to interact with people who aren't super-smart scientist geeks' to 'tons of boyfriends and giving relationship advice' was just...very frustrating.

That and she went from a childfree perspective (in a good, not kid-hating/shaming way) to being all about the bay-bees, which ...ugh.

I mean her social intelligence would turn on a dime, as needed. Being comically bad at human interactions is her thing. She was basically written like an alien being who just landed on earth. Like so bad she needs to be reminded that referring to a deceased person as "the remains" to their grieving parents' faces is super insensitive. And then in another episode, she's got boyfriends who don't notice she's kind of an emotionless robot? And then she's back to being a weird alien again, because like I said, that's her schtick.

DA

Yeah, ITA, her characterization was SUPER inconsistent and it was really frustrating. Especially because there were aspects of her that I related to a lot, so I was constantly shifting from feeling really connected to the character and then being totally jarred out of that connection by the wonky writing.

She's often written stupid to give Booth an "I told you so," which is pretty damn ridiculous because Booth is barely beyond box of rocks on a lot of topics.

EDIT: Big plot hole. She's a fucking anthropologist who's apparently never read anything based on Weber or Durkheim. So she charges into interviews with religious people with script beats from the worst of internet gnu atheists.
