Yeah casting wank is a big fandom activity and it's hard to stop.

I can understand being disappointed but some people get really OTT before ever seeing a performance.

Because he was described as very ambiguous in manner of race in the book (that was kind of his one main description) and the actor is not "ambiguous" at all.

DA But of course if he had been racially ambiguous like Wentworth Miller or someone, it would have been "whitewashing".

I doubt it. Majority of fandom is very protective of white-passing POCs. Probably because a lot of peole in fandom are white-passing POCs themselves. The complaints against them are rare and usually trashed by the rest of fandom.

nayrt but at some point if you really want to know things, you should just settle in and do some googling rather than asking other people to supply you with old gossip. If you don't want to do that, then oh well.

Dude, most people like it when they express a viewpoint on something they're interested in and someone responds with "tell me more?" It's nice to have someone engage with you, and it's especially nice to have someone engage with you in a way that implies they're interested in your particular knowledge of the subject.

Possibly obscure fandom gossip isn't the easiest thing to google. What's the harm in asking people who seem to already know? It's not like they're obligated to explain.

I've been in the GO fandom for a couple years now (I must have over a hundred fic saved to my hard drive) and I'm not seeing this rabid fanbase you're talking about. I even read the comments on that tumblr post he made and 95% of people who replied agreed with him and thanked him. Sure there's always going to be some fans who will never be happy and love stirring drama, but I feel like the GO fandom as it stands right now doesn't come anywhere close to some of the more horrible fandoms like, say, Steven Universe.

I think in this case, he just did it as some sort of pre-emptive strike, especially because of Terry's co-authorship.

Strangely I imagined Crowley a bit Tennantish, just with black hair and more Greekish. Aziraphale was older Stephen Fry to me :P . Anathema was similar to Tara from True Blood and Newt was like older Ezra Miller. Forgot who I seen the kids as or how I imagined them.
