I feel the mythology was the weak part of the original series, frankly. Parts of it were interesting, but it got so big and complicated, I couldn't keep track of it anymore. It just sort of collapsed under its own weight. For a while, it did get me excited about what would happen next, but the payoff never seemed to be there. Between those two things, the mythology just stopped being enjoyable for me long before the show ended. I was watching only for the standalone eps by later seasons, and I quit entirely when I realized the last season wasn't wiping the slate clean and just giving us The Doggett and Reyes Have Weird Adventures Show.
