Because Kaku got fucking lame after he became a giraffe.

Besides, no one tops CP9!Lucci. Galley-La, maybe, but pimpcoat wearin' CP9!Lucci? No damn way.

In any case, Kaku couldn't top him, ever.

Although I do agree that no one tops CP9!Lucci. Even if I would love to see it too...

Giraffes are all fine and dandy, but it was stupid for his DF to be that. Califa's was worse, though, bubbles?

Actually, I think Kalifa's power is awesome. I mean, for one thing, it saps the strength out of people, which is amazingly useful in a fight. She can turn people into useless, practically immobile soap dolls, she can use the soap as a shielf, even protecting herself from lightning, she could probably use it to soap herself up and make herself difficult to hit like Alvida...there are a ton of potential uses for it. I mean, hell, even outside of battle-- she can clean off buildings for money!

To be honest-- and don't get me wrong here, because I love Nami to death and she's one of my favorite characters-- the only reason Nami beat her is that Kalifa had gotten the power an hour ago and was still messing around with it and practicing because she didn't expect that she would have to work very hard to beat the Straw Hats. And why should she? They really don't look like much; they're a bunch of teenage pirates who were already pretty scraped up anyway.

Oh, also, obviously Nami is badass and no one can beat her. But Kalifa could have come really goddamned close.

I am sick and tired of Nami always having to fight the girls. She's exhibited that she is powerful of her own right and wit, but Oda continues to pit her against the female villains.

Though that has little to do with the fact that I thought soap was just... an over the top excuse for a sexy soap fight between two hot babes.

The female villains are powerful of their own right and wit, too. Women tend not to be as physically strong as men; Nami isn't, the villain girls aren't. The chicks fight with their brains, with their inventiveness; they outsmart their opponents, mixed in with some good old-fashioned ass-kicking and clever use of weaponry. Nami fights girls because she's good at fighting girls, just like Zoro fights swordsmen, Luffy fights brawlers, Usopp fights the tricksters and thinkers. It's what they do. It's not just Nami, and there's nothing wrong with fighting the female villains in the first place. Someone has to kick their asses.

And yes, that fight was an excuse for fanservice along with an excuse to display some clever and truly badass use of powers and asskickery on both sides. But don't pretend the boys don't get fanservice'd as well-- Zoro going around all the time shirtless or with shirts that bare his abs or arms probably isn't because he likes the breeze. Oda is producing a manga, and it's an awesome manga and he clearly does it because he enjoys it, but he's also doing it to make money and he knows what attracts readers. Fanservice is a part of life. I, for one, have learned to enjoy it.

Dude whatever, he still got way better use out of his power than Jyabura ever did, and it was like an hour after he first acquired the abilities.

I liked him better when he jumped off buildings and was cute and happy.

In any case, it was a comedic relief power which fell on its face. Oh, lols, his nose is still a square. HILARITY.

It allowed him to stretch his body out in all sorts of weird ways. He'd only just gotten it, and already he was learning to use it to fight in various weird and different ways. That's not comic relief, that's one deadly motherfuck who just happens to have a power that is very conceptually silly.

Meanwhile Jyabura was just CHECK ME OUT I'm A WOLF I'VE GOT CLAWS AND SHIT OH CHECK IT OUT MY RANKYAKU IS SLOW AS HELL AND BOUNCES, I AM SO AWESOME DID I MENTION THAT I'M A FUCKING WOLF?

Be that as it may, it was still stupid as fuck to watch.

If anything, Lucci had the best DF out of the lot. Him, or Funkfried.

Well, I deeply disagree with you on the subject of it being a dumbass power, and I'm not the only one. He figured it out in an hour or less, used it to his advantaged, kicked ass, and busted a building in half. I really don't know what more you want from him. Not everyone can look awesome all the time, especially during a down and dirty fight, and I happen to think it's more awesome that he's able to beat down like a pro while looking goofy.

First: Kaku's Devil Fruit power is extremely powerful and very useful to him. It gives him nigh immeasurable extra range (hells of useful for a swordsman), jacks up his Douriki like whoa, and allows him to slice buildings IN HALF. The introduction to it was comedic relief, and the concept is goofy, but the power itself is hardcore and he proved it big time. Besides, giraffes are my favorite animal, but that's personal opinion.

Second: It's perfectly possible and totally fine to be a badass mofo and still like to bottom. There are plenty of guys in real life who like it that way and would be pretty insulted by the implication that it makes them weak, or of lesser masculinity. Now, would Lucci be a stereotypical yaoi uke boy? Fuck no, but that's not anywhere near an accurate portrayal of homosexuality in the first place.

Third: Give me one good reason Kaku couldn't top Lucci. Seriously, I'd like to hear it.

Second: Wow, way to read way too much into my comment there. All I said was that no one tops CP9 Lucci. Not that he's too ~masculine~ or whatever to be topped, shit. If any gay guys were really, honestly offended by a comment like that, they need to grow a thicker skin and not read between the lines. That said, you're taking this way too seriously for it to be even fun to discuss. It's fandom. Chill, okay?

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to make this a fun discussion. No offense meant, but your comment got under my skin and I was trying to show you why I found it offensive. Saying "no one tops [whoever]" is normally automatically taken to mean "being the bottom means you're not as tough". I'm not really sure what else it would mean. I mean, why else would you say "no one tops him"? Is there another way to take that?

In the end I don't think Kaku was a well-developed character. He had no personality other than being a somewhat nice guy who got a joke devil fruit that served no purpose whatsoever other than Oda being able to come up with a "funny" fight that just fell flat on its face.

And Lucci is definitely seme. Christ, this is Japanese comics, not REAL LIEF. And isn't/wasn't it a commonly followed rule in yaoi that, say, the taller guy tops, etc? You can't really take this kind of stuff seriously, at least, I like to approach it that way.
