I think my faith for the majority of Utena fans died when, at a con, they showed the Utena movie and every immature moron who sat through it went "OMG, they were naked!!! and kissed! teehee, yuri!!!!" Luckily, there were others there who DID get more of it then just that.

I mean, if that was the ONLY part of the movie you paid attention to, and ignored the plot or even the beautiful music--please, get out of my fandom. And stop bringing the movie into the series. Movie is a RETELLING in an AU, not the same set up. -_-

Exactly. It's like going to see Battle Royale at a con, and people cheer every time people die. Then when Battle Royale 2 is played afterwards, people complain that they didn't like it as much because it wasn't as violent. So much hate.

Please please PLEASE tell me you're joking about the Battle Royale cheering and just using as an example. I love that movie, but that's also one of those films that have deeper meanings behind them then what is shown, like Utena.

... All I saw was a magical carwash, a ton of phallic symbols, and a middle aged Japanese man's idea of what lesbian relationships are like.

Well, not "beautiful plot" but plot and then "beautiful music"

The whole plot (or subtext, rather, I should say) being more along the lines of the anime of saying "You don't need a 'prince' or be your own prince." The series had many phallic symbols as well *cough*Akio's tower*cough*

"Toki ni ai Wa" was a beautiful song and an amazingly well-done scene.

But I'm with you with the cars. I watch the movie up until that point then I just turn it off.

I don't know. Maybe it's just because of the fandom but I always felt the series tried to push you in a Utena/Anthy direction as well, even though I thought they were better as friends.
