(Anonymous) 2017-08-27 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)Is it because the monster tends to be the top/dom and making the monster pregnant would challenge that? That's the only thing I could think of, but even so, I don't think I agree cowardice has anything to do with it.
I think having the human get pregnant is so common because if someone has a pregnancy kink, it plays directly into that. I think a lot of people with pregnancy kink find it more potent if a character doesn't know they can get pregnant, maybe isn't aware they're pregnant for quite a while, and their body is going through these changes that don't make sense to them. You get all of that if a human male gets knocked up by a monster. But you don't get most of that if the monster gets knocked up, because presumably the monster knows they are able to get knocked up, knows what being pregnant will entail for them, and may even know before they have sex with the human that it will result in pregnency.
But you know, now that I think about it, I would totally read a fic where one of my OTP is an alien and the other is a human, and the alien accidentally gets pregnant without either of them knowing that's a thing that can happen when human males and aliens fuck.
