Re: Inspired By #1
(Anonymous) 2017-08-30 01:03 am (UTC)(link)And I really like that character type/plot, the person still discovering new things and being amazed and having to learn. Like I know they're overdone and complained about, but I love any superhero origin movie scene with them first discovering and learning their powers and playing around with them. Or any 'fish out of water' stories with someone in a brand new situation. And because of the nature of media, a lot of those stories tend to be about younger characters. There's very few middle aged ladies stepping through magic portals and discovering they have super powers and finding it new and exciting, even if there should be.

I think it's because in part older people come with more baggage. It's harder to step away, for many people.
But I agree with you, I love those discoveries, and wish we had more variety in terms of age and whatnot.
I had a thing I was working on, that featured a very diverse cast of characters discovering superpowers and having to save the world and all that (very diverse - each one was from a different country, the ages ranged from like 10 to sixties). Never found an artist for it, though, so I've kind of set it aside.
