My mother's 80, walks five miles a day, and swims a mile three times a week, so my view of what's old is perhaps a bit skewed.

Then again, I've known people who were 65 and acted like they were pushing 90.

...but yes, people who think 30-40 is old are hilarious. D'awwwww, lookit the cute widdle unsocialized thing!

My mum's partner's mum is 100 and she is in better shape than us (broke a hip a month ago but recovered now). I do not think anyone is 'old' until they reach 'potential dying age' but ... it is still relative. For us, said dying age is 75 tops (or at least is such for other relatives) while step-dad's family's upoer threshold is over 90. Then again, I would say anyone below 50 is young and above it would be middle-aged but it is just how I view people and their timelines.

Sadly, I remember those days when I thought 30-40 was old.

Now I'm turning 40 next year!

Heck, my parents are roughly 70 (Dad's turning 70 this year, Mom next year), and I don't think of them as old. I think at this point, if you're under 100, you're not old. Though full disclosure, my family has had several members live into the hundreds, so my view might be skewed.
