I frankly think it's a load of horseshit to get more angry at the person who's speaking up and treat that like the bigger problem.

I would agree if this were anything other than airing dirty laundry.

I want to know if the person who's based his reputation as an important figure in entertainment on the idea that he is empowering women is actually being a total piece of shit to women on a regular basis. I think that's relevant information.

is actually being a total piece of shit to women

Sure, I'd want to know that too. But neither of us do know that.

We know he was being a selfish jerk to one woman on an ongoing basis. That's all. And as much as the Joss haters would like to believe otherwise, being a selfish jerk to one woman does not a misogynist make. If that were the case, every lesbian who had ever cheated on her partner would be a misogynist and a bad feminist.

Also DA.

Assuming those lesbians even identified as a feminist. Being lesbian isn't a statement. And someone is a misogynist before their sexuality even comes into it. It's likely that lesbians can be misogynists while cheating, but that's unrelated to this.

He sounds like he's been unreliable and unfaithful to multiple women. Someone doesnt go into relationships 'not expecting them to last more than a year' if you're not in them for more than a good fuck, to put it crudely. If he calls himself a powerful producer to 'needy' women, who's betting he made promises he never kept, re: furthering their careers with promise of sex.

On to more concrete conclusions, him cheating and lying to his wife the entire time for 20 years is very narcissistic behaviour.

Regardless of the positive impacts he or his shows have had on you (or us, even), it doesn't change the fact that what he's done is very disappointing behaviour and as much as I want to respect him, I have to say, what a raging dickhead.

+1 Yep. Amazing and sad that people are eager to be so hard on the ex-wife, but not Whedon.
