(Anonymous) 2017-09-03 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)People being in fandom do have lives outside of it. People who have interests, period, have lives and like other things. Some people have more varied interests than others; that's okay. It happens.
I also don't get the "I like to know my friends" argument when people complain that their friends talk about fandoms. Isn't that how you make friends? Finding common interests? The issue seems to be more that you and your friend lack them. I agree that if a friend only talks about one thing, whether it's fandom or their kids or water skiing, it does become a bit one-sided. I have friends who only talk about one subject or interest, and I am afraid to say I feel distant from them, because I can't relate - or even when I can, sometimes I just want to talk or hear about something else. But why is it so hard to accept that people enjoy talking about things they like?
