My mother has lost her keys. She has now decided that she left them on the roof of the car, and that since I didn't look at the roof before I drove out the next day, I'm partially to blame, even though I had no reason to look. Now I have to retrace my steps all the way to where I finally went as if it would have stayed on the roof that long.

I'm sure you realize this already, but your mom is being unreasonable and trying to shift blame and responsibility to you when it's her own fault for being careless. She ought to be embarrassed.

Your mom is wrong. 150% oh so wrong.

It's tempting to be a smartass and ask her if there's anything else you should watch out for in order to protect her from her own screw ups. Because that's basically what she's expecting you to do.

I just found out a show I really wanted to see is sold out through November, at which point the originating performer will have already left. I'm especially bitter because the show actually opened closer to me before moving on to bigger and brighter things and while I wanted to at the time, I didn't get the chance to see the premiere either.

Ugh, that sucks. No chance of any radio contest tickets, is there?

I have a cold drinking hot beverages helps but I can't have anything with decaf before bedtime or I'll have trouble sleeping. But herbal teas taste like crap. :(

I was very happy to find a decent decaf Ceylon tea and I really need to buy more of it soon (I don't have trouble sleeping after having caffeine but I drink a lot of tea all through the day and too much makes me twitchy but still tired and that's unpleasant).
Is milk and honey an option?

Fresh ginger with honey and lemon?

Not having money sucks. They are doing a performance of Verdi's Macbeth here next week. And we can't afford the tickets. Damn it. I know, stupid thing to vent about. But I love the Macbeth story. Any version of it, I want to see.

Also, really sick of panic attacks. I'm having less of them, but they still keep popping up at very inopportune moments. And then I take the meds and get loopy. I have things i need to get done. I have a life. Stop it, body, please.

Is volunteering at the theater an option? I've gotten to see plays at my local theater for free by volunteering as an usher and event promoter.

Re: Vent thread

This isn't entirely because of #1, although that helps, but I also just had a similar conversation.

People being in fandom do have lives outside of it. People who have interests, period, have lives and like other things. Some people have more varied interests than others; that's okay. It happens.

I also don't get the "I like to know my friends" argument when people complain that their friends talk about fandoms. Isn't that how you make friends? Finding common interests? The issue seems to be more that you and your friend lack them. I agree that if a friend only talks about one thing, whether it's fandom or their kids or water skiing, it does become a bit one-sided. I have friends who only talk about one subject or interest, and I am afraid to say I feel distant from them, because I can't relate - or even when I can, sometimes I just want to talk or hear about something else. But why is it so hard to accept that people enjoy talking about things they like?

Re: Vent thread

(Anonymous) 2017-09-03 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Because generally the people making that complaint aren't capable of considering interests they don't share as valid.

I swear I'll never forget the interview Pail McGillion gave back when the Stargates were big deals. It was essentially a very humble "some people like sports, and some people like Stargate and that's great!"

The average high temperature for this time of year, where I live, is 84°F, and that's not really hot so I don't have air conditioning. But for the last three days it has been 107-110°F and 90°F during the day inside my house. It usually gets cooler at night but it's only been getting to 85°F at night and IM FUCKING MISERABLE GODDAMMIT!!! JESUS CHRIST ITS TOO FUCKING HOT!!! FUCK THIS WEATHER, I CANT WAIT UNTIL ITS JANUARY AND IN THE MOTHERFUCKING 40S AGAIN!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

My condolences. Is a small window ac unit for the bedroom out of the question? Just having one room you can retreat to in weather like this is a big help.

I got to work today and someone had taken it upon themselves to do half my job "to help." And it's not like they did it wrong and technically I answer to them, but...what I am I supposed to do all day except stew in the mild panic that they donn' t think I know what I'm doing?

I have a shift at work tomorrow with the one staff member I don't get along with and FFFFF I just don't want to. The last shift we had stressed me out so bad and made me want to cry. I've thought about asking if my shifts can be arranged so that we don't overlap but I don't want to rock the boat or seem petty/emotional.

I moved recently, and while I thought I'd changed my various mailing and shipping addresses, I realized last night that I'd accidentally sent a DVD I bought off Amazon to my old apartment instead of my new one. Unfortunately;

A) I moved several states away, so I can't just drive over there to pick it up in person, and

B) It's a DVD for an obscure movie, so there aren't any more copies on Amazon, and I don't know when if ever there will be another copy available. So if this DVD gets lost or thrown out by the new tenants of my old apartment, I'm screwed. It's not essential that I have this DVD or anything, but it's still really frustrating.

I did manage to contact both Amazon and the leasing office of my old apartment (kind of amazing considering this is Labor Day weekend), and the odds are good that things will work out. However, it all kind of hinges on hearing back from the new tenants (if they've received my package, and if so, what they've done with it) and at this point it's unlikely I'll be hearing anything until tomorrow. So now I have to deal with the worry that they disposed of my DVD for 12+ hours.

Just...ARGH.

I wonder why I even bother posting fic online; the only person left in my favourite fandom told me they'd rather wait three whole months to discuss it face to face than leave a comment as soon as they read it WHY ARGH HOW WHUT
