The average high temperature for this time of year, where I live, is 84°F, and that's not really hot so I don't have air conditioning. But for the last three days it has been 107-110°F and 90°F during the day inside my house. It usually gets cooler at night but it's only been getting to 85°F at night and IM FUCKING MISERABLE GODDAMMIT!!! JESUS CHRIST ITS TOO FUCKING HOT!!! FUCK THIS WEATHER, I CANT WAIT UNTIL ITS JANUARY AND IN THE MOTHERFUCKING 40S AGAIN!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

My condolences. Is a small window ac unit for the bedroom out of the question? Just having one room you can retreat to in weather like this is a big help.

Thanks, heh. I think casually about a window unit during the two weeks or so every summer when it's in the high 90s outside, but I always decide against it because it's really only two weeks and the rest of the year I wouldn't need it, plus I have windows that open side-to-side rather than up and down, and would need to hire someone to install. But we've been breaking 125-year temperature records here and I am seriously considering sticking a crow bar in my wallet and just going for it, lol, because I'm just sitting here sweating!

Going to go ahead and assume you're in California as well because yepppppppp. It's been completely brutal and insane and I've literally never seen anything like it here in the Bay Area.

That's horrible. It's like that here too but it's not rare for here and I do have a window unit for AC. I hope you get a break soon.

Echoing anon above. I lived in Arizona and our swamp cooler never worked properly so we bought a window AC unit for our bedroom. We slept much better after that and I had a cool room to retreat to when the heat triggered migraines. They're expensive in the stores, especially when the temps are higher than usual, but you could check Facebook marketplace to see if anyone in your area is selling a used one.

NAYRT but the problem (at least where I am) is that it literally is never this hot. Like, it has literally never been this hot before here. Most years you really legitimately don't need an AC unit so very few people have them. And anyone who does is not selling one right now.

That sucks so much, when your house just *won't cool down*. Put a damp washcloth in the freezer, and after about three to five minutes, take it out and drape it around the back of your neck. Leave it until its starting to warm up (i fold and refold mine for a bit until i've hit all the cold spots).

Then re-dampen and chuck it back in the freezer and rotate out the one you had in there as a backup. :)

This seriously does help bring your temp down and make you feel cooler, especially if you have a fan moving some air around. Good luck!

I've been doing that, it's literally the only thing keeping me from losing it, lol
