I have a shift at work tomorrow with the one staff member I don't get along with and FFFFF I just don't want to. The last shift we had stressed me out so bad and made me want to cry. I've thought about asking if my shifts can be arranged so that we don't overlap but I don't want to rock the boat or seem petty/emotional.

change your shifts anyway. worth it. and I don't know about you, but people don't normally ask why someone changes their schedule?

Thanks. I probably will. The only days I dread going into work are when I know it's just us two on duty. I guess I don't want it to seem obvious that I'm trying to avoid him or anything.

unless they already know you dislike them, they probably won't put two and two together. and even if they do figure it out, it's still so fucking worth it. co-worker stress is the worst.

I think it's a sort of mutual dislike. We just seem to sort of rub each other the wrong way if that makes sense? Might be down to me still being fairly new/inexperienced so I think he gets stressed when I get stuff wrong, then I get upset because he gets impatient with me. I sound like such a baby lol but I get on so well with everyone else (which I'm grateful for) and there's such a bad atmosphere when we work together.

sounds like he'd be relieved as well if you changed? all the more reason, honestly, especially if you're compounding this w/ the stress of a new job. learn from the others you get along with instead. :\

Yeah, I think he would. I'm just kind of disappointed since I've tried really hard to get along with him and just chat with him (we actually have a lot of similar fandoms/interests) but he doesn't seem to want to talk about them with me at all. Can't please everyone though. Thanks for your advice. :)

He kind of sounds like an ass tbh, it's not your fault he's impatient with the newbie.

I had a shift leader at a job a few years ago that I really really could NOT stand, and he was such an ass to me, and I finally lost it and told the GM I didn't want to work with him anymore. fortunately the GM didn't like him either and was able to foist him off onto another store shortly thereafter. at least I know it wasn't me, heh. the other shift leaders didn't like him either.

My sympathies - I hope you don't have to work with him much after this, or that he straightens out and stops being a jerk.
